Liberal bicycle commuter, political junkie, policy junkie, free thinker, I've got too many titles. All in all I'll leave it with a quote from the late Senator Paul Wellstone of Minn. "Politics is not about big money and power games, it's about the improvment of peoples lives."

Google Tells The Government To Shove It....For Now Anyway

So now the Government wants to see what your looking for in a search engine? Yeah , yeah I know it is for some child porn case or whatever. Look at the big picture Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft have already complied, Google refuses. This can set a precedence as far as whenever the government decides it might be good to see what folks are searching for they will just do it because THEY HAVE DONE IT BEFORE.

Honestly, I don't know if Google is going to be able to fend off the wolves, but I hope so. Look I think we should probably all get use to the fact that our privacy and rights are going to become even more limited in the years to come. Like bicycle mark says, 9/11 was an absolute god send for politicians, unlimited money and the ability to remain in office forever because they are "fighting terrorism."

It seems as though everything is such a knee jerk reaction these days. "Oh christ something happened we better whip the public into some fear then chip away at some freedoms." It seems as though nobody is looking at the bigger picture to see if someplace there is a bit of common ground. Common ground that will at the very least keep us from killing one another.

But in the end I'm a pessimist by nature and I see things continuing on as they are and the government doing little things like watching search engines and stupid shit like that.
